Banner Elk is a playground for all outdoor enthusiasts. Winter months in banner Elk are great for skiing and snowboarding, with three local ski slopes at a short driving distance. Most outdoor activities take place during the summer months when you can hike, bike, fish, and go golfing. The town of Banner Elk offers its visitors and residents unbeatable shopping and dining opportunities.
SUGAR TOP offers fully-furnished two bedroom and two bathroom units with magnificent views of Grandfather Mountain and the Sugar Mountain Ski Slopes. All of the suites are approximately 1100 square feet, with two bedrooms, two baths, dining area, private covered balcony, and fully equipped kitchens including an electric range, refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal and wet bar. Some condos have a working fireplace in the living room and some have a washer/dryer.
SUGARTOP started out as being just a dream for motivated architects, engineers, planners, and administrators from the Resort Investment Corporation and U.S. Capitol Corporation of Columbia, South Carolina. In 1982, the conceived image of SUGARTOP was completed. The entire 10-story building is a magnificent structure of steel and concrete, and completely fire proof. The huge round columns that are quite prominent everywhere, are steel and concrete. There are several hundred of these columns, and they go down deep into the mountain to insure the sturdiness of the building. SUGAR TOP has been referred to as North Carolina’s Premiere Resort Locale. It is indeed an impressive High Rise resting on the ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains, to be seen from all directions below.
This luxury condominium community offers premium on-site amenities. While some might think the view is the most incredible amenity, SUGARTOP doesn’t stop there. Located on the first floor, Sugar Top offers a refreshing indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, locker room, and well-equipped exercise room for all of its residents and guests to enjoy. Other features include a steam room, whirlpool, twenty-four hour security and front desk service. The Lobby is furnished graciously to accommodate group gatherings and has floor to ceiling windows so you won’t be able miss the view.

SUGARTOP has created activities that will help to create a connection for the people inhabiting the units. There are special movies played twice a week in the evenings, dances with live bands, Bingo and card games in the card room, along with pot luck suppers to be enjoyed by all. Of course winter time is known for the skiers. SUGARTOP supplies a special place to keep your skis and ski boots so that your belongings are not brought into the condos to clutter and damage anything.
